Just my OP, but if you flat tappet engine has been sitting for a week or more it's a good idea to let it crank until it gets oil pressure before starting. So if you were to hop in and crank it over for 10-15 seconds before firing/ fuel pressure building, it's a good thing.
Every engine builder I know recommends it for flat tappet engines. Cranking your petronix for 10-15 seconds will not hurt it. Just my OP.

I have on two occasions forgot the key was on and left my jeep for several days. Once when working on the tail lights, and working on the fuel gauge. Both times the Petronix unit drained the battery dead. I charged the battery up and without issue the jeep started. Didn't seem to hurt my V6 Petronix.

Ive done the same as norcal with a 12v one.
It might be an issue specific to 6v units maybe?

I suppose that in a theoretical way, 6 volt would be pulling twice as much current.
