I would be interested in knowing if anyone has seen a similar tail gate area on anther CJ. You can tell from the forward area it was mounted to tub since the fasteners are showing. It appears to be a manufactures piece from the look of it, by that i mean not home made. I got this parts vehicle among a bunch of other parts I bought from the same person. Its too bad it was so cold when I took this picture my hands were too numb to clean more snow off or shot photos of inside of tub. When I get it home I can shoot some more photos. Thanks in advance Shaun1300

The whole back of that tub appears to have been fabricated.

My first thought is maybe there wasn't a specific purpose, it's just the way someone made it.

The whole tub from beyond the dashboard back has been built in a backyard by Bubba. It might be a bit more solid than the wood rear tubs I used to deal with. Even the steering wheel (2 spoke?) looks like it may be from a Willys pickup/wagon.

I was able to find out more about rear body from PO. He was a mechanic at Anchor Marina on Grand Island in NY. The Jeeps were used as tugs by workers there to haul boats and other stuff around marina. He was not sure when the back ends were put on but it was before he started work there. I believe I am getting 3 like this once the snow clears up and we can load them on my trailer. I will be better able to see condition of bodies once the 5" of snow is off them. I was able to get a couple pictures of one of the 7 CJ's i bought from him and will attach it. One CJ wheel well had a tool bracket holder mounted probably to hold screwdrives, pliers and such. I also included a a picture of a 1/2 hardtop that I got as part of the jeeps and parts. Now I need to find window gaskets to mount glass. I did get one small gasket, but need another and one for large back window. Anyone know where they might be available? Needless to say my wife will be thrilled with 7 more Jeeps and a truckload of parts. shaun1300

Tell her that one of those is her future Jeep.

Looks like a decent haul. Should be able to resurrect a few of those.
