I would love to build that... if I had a lot of extra money and time.

It's always a bit weird for something like that to end up at a dealer.

If I had nothing better to do with my money...I'd bring it home to my cabin or beach house (if I had a cabin or beach house).

I like it...could run a few of the buggy trails around here and take it to Moab....but then I would need a trailer and a truck that could pull the trailer, and after running the 5 or so hardcore trails around here, it would take all the fun out of running the standard moderate stuff.....but I still like it....one of the better looking jeep buggies I have seen. Wonder how well it works....seems like it should have a v8....

For actual crawling the 6 is probably fine...might even keep the rig better balanced. But I'm seeing more of the "rock bouncers" these days that are more about wheel speed and horsepower attacking hills. Both are fun to watch, but I'd rather be a crawler. Something more elegant about it.

We've got a few buggies in our local club...one of them has a big block v8....when turning 44" stickies at 3psi fully locked, it can get up stuff that the v6 and sbc cannot...rig design and balance are more important, but even with the 300-1 CR some of these rigs have, being able to run a slighly higher gear and then quickly accelerate and get some extra spin on those tires at exactly the right moment (thus driver skill is also critical), you see a difference. At the same time, one guy runs a 4cyl, and it does do exccedingly well, but he keeps the tire size down a bit compared to the others, and the rig is well built for balance etc...so 99% of the time the extra engine power probably doesn't matter, but every once in a while it does help. So, if you are building such specialized rig and spending all that money, seems like the extra cost (maybe even cheaper) of at least a sbc v8 is insignficant and ubiquitous. One other negative of the bbc - its hard to keep cool.
