    To me that makes more sense baring something I'm unaware of. Seems most of the engines I know of, that are known to last insane miles, are inline oriented, under-square and iron blocked.

    It doesn't seem like the FHead is known for durability, but I do wonder how much of that has to do with short burst use cases combined with heavy doses of sitting. If they are subjected to more normal driven use case and still rarely crack 75k miles before a rebuild, it'd be interested in work-arounds to the potential short comings that cause that. I thought long and hard about my motor choice and perceived durability under frequent use was a reason I went in another direction. I always figured the oil system was the motor's main downfall. Again, I know several under-square inline engines that expect well in excess of 75k per rebuild, but none of those has known oiling shortcomings.
