CJ5 gas tank? I'm not trying to pick your Jeep apart, As long as it holds gas, all is good.

I think so, judging by the angled filler. It does fit in the tub nicely and is held in by what appears to be the original strap.

I was going to replace the front frame side spring bushings today as they are totally gone, but I found that the driver side spring main leaf is broken and has been for some time. The military wrap is the only thing holding it. I don't have the money right now for new springs, but a friend of mine has a decent set of front springs that I'll go get tomorrow. I may take apart some old Skyjacker CJ5 springs I have and see if I can swap a few leafs to get a bit more height.

I have always wondered about the angled filler.

It's kind of a pain because the cap hits the edge of the well, but it works. The tank is clean inside and doesn't leak, so it'll remain for the time being.

If it works, don't mess with it sort of a scene. My CJ3B has gas tanks on both sides, one side is really a PITA to get the gas cap back on. My fat fingers don't help much either.

Man, you don't f#@( around, do you? :D

You've done more to this JEEP in a few weeks than I have done to mine in a LONG time. Lovin' following this thread. Good, sensible upgrades and repairs. Keep at 'er Patrick. Coming along very nicely.

Broken body mounts on the body repaired, and 15 new poly body mounts and bolts installed today..Rides much better now that the tub isn't sitting on the transfer case..:) The original pads were 98% gone.

I've been driving the 2A every day since I got the trans/ transfer case back in a week ago. It's supposed to snow tomorrow, and I haven't put windshield wipers on it yet, so it goes into the back of the garage for a couple days so I can drive my other money pit...Er, Jeep.

Patrick, do you still have your Ben Hur?

If so, any plans to use it / the Willys?

That trailer would be perfect for short camping/expedition trips. Ladder rack for bikes, kayaks, roof top tent, etc.

After seeing pics of your '5, I miss following your updates on it.

To the new owners defense, I don't think you left him anything to do to it, but I'd be DD'n it everyday if I owned it.

Any plans to try buying it back from him in the future?
