New body from Willy's Overland

I'd say no more than 3 years ago. He got the jeep back up and running....a year ago or so IIRC.

It might be a different company now. I'd just be real careful. And I personally would not buy from them unless I could go to the factory and pick it out and load it up on my tralier. And a lot of the holes were slightly off and needed........adjustment to get it to work.

 

I can't comment on current practice of WO but lived in toledo 1989 to 96. I hung around there alot. The company changed hands after I moved. WO owns trdemark WO and was may still be vendor for Jeep. Company started out buying entire fleets of vehicles that were unassembled/cancelled foreign orders-sold as scrap. Previous owner parted out these parts NOS. He also sold tubs assembled from these original stampings. majority were lefthand drive retrofitted to righthand drive. Tubs were built on jig from original stampings. I guess those must be gone. The real gold mine WO has -IMO - are many original blueprints salvaged from Jeep admin building before dynomited

 

Wow. Finally I see someone say some positive reviews of the MD Juan bodies. Thank you. Nobody ever gives them any respect. I can't say what they were like years ago but I just bought a M38 body for my flatty this summer and I am really happy and impressed. I am more than capable of repairing my rusty tub that I have for my flatty but why. I am a skilled metal worker, accomplished bodyman and trained painter but it is not worth my time to repair my tub over the price and quality of the MD Juan body. I would buy one again in a second. Great fit accurate reproduction and quality build. Well worth it. I say go for the repo body for sure and don't waste your money buying from WO. I talked to them when looking for mine and was not really impressed. They are not doing a whole lot that would be of any help to me as my project is quite custom anyways. Their price ended up being $1000 more than what I payed for mine from 4WD hardware. I ended up paying $2700 for my body kit as they had a 10% off sale on the body kits at the time and 1/2 price shipping as well which ended up being $150 to come direct from the Omix Ada warehouse in Atlanta to the B.C. Washington state border town for my pickup. The kit came with everything but a new grill, including a new windshield, fenders, tailgate, glovebox door, most of the pioneer tool mounts for the side and instrument panel. The shipping box was the original MD Juan box. The shipping crate was kind of crappy but it showed up 99.9% undamaged. Maybe a bit of chafed primer. I know a flatfender body is cheaper and fit a bit different but I am absolutely satisfied and would not hesitate to buy a cj5 body in the future if I do a Jeep again and had a cj5. I think 4WD hardware has the same sale on right now again as well. You can buy the same thing from virtually any of the Jeep restoration parts retailers. I would just look for the best price as most drop ship direct from Omix Ada anyways just like 4WD hardware. These businesses generally do not stock them in their own warehouses.

















I say go for the body if you need one they are great. Most people that bitch about them do not have any experience with them themselves. They just heard info from someone or another about some issues that were several years back. Good luck.

Wow, that looks good. I was told they didn't come with the instrument holes drilled. Obviously we are talking apples and oranges with the M-38 and Cj5, but it looks like they just set it on a pallet.

Anybody have some pics of a cj5 body when they took it out of the crate?
