need help on HEI

    :v6: runs on #2 only. other 5 flood out. Also where does the #1 wire go on cap. (have a '76 odd-fire HEI)

    What sort of jeep is this? That sounds like my Dodge! If it is flooding out, then you have carb issues. Stick your distributer in with the #1 cylinder TDC on the compression stroke. Then run your firing order from there. It will work.

    carb is just be rebuilt (last fall). did all that. engine is flooding due to NOT starting. have spark on all cylinders. have gas (drips out exhaust). #2 only one that wants to fire.

    any ideas???


    <edit> what i really need to know is: where does #1 go on the cap?

    Doesn't matter where number one is as long as the firing order is correct. I'm not at home to check, but I put my number one wire right where the retainer cap was labeled for #1, which I think is adjacent to the plug-in, probably on the right side of it.
