I need a full length cover for a 77 cj5. I took it down to the texascoast and left it under the beach house. It won't rain on it and it does have a bikini top, but the salt air settles on everything. I look at websites but they don't show a cover that goes down to the ground. I have a blue tarp on it now. Any ideas? thanks:

Maybe find a painting canvas, like painters use to cover floors etc while painting. I have one that would more than cover that CJ

Probably good to go with fabric anyway, wouldn't want to trap moisture underneath.

How about one of those pop up type tents with sides??? It would cover the CJ with out really touching and rubbing that nice blue paint. It would also allow some air circulation so you wouldn't trap moisture and you would have access to the inside of the Jeep. You would have to find a way to secure it to the ground or those posts when it gets breezy. Just lift up the rear flap of the tent and drive out!

i bought a full cover for mine. I dont remember what brand it is but i can try to remember to look when i get home. it does not go all the way to the ground on my jeep yours does not look like it sets as high as mine so it would be pretty close. i do remember it was very expensive but i wanted a good one to protect my baby from stuff in the garage.

I bought a cover for the CJ-6 (actually a cover for a Commando... turns out I know more about Jeeps than the cover seller), and it covers the whole body. It's still a foot off the ground though - the tires are showing. But the elastic edge fits under the edge of the body.

I'm not convinced that going to the ground is needed, or even a good idea. The air is going to reach the Jeep regardless, and more ventilation may be better. The cover will protect the Jeep from dust/dirt/grit and wind driven rain. But the humid air will reach it, regardless of whether it's under cover or in a garage.

I just went to a FLAPS and bought a car cover for a "small SUV." It fit my '72 CJ5 perfectly. It keeps the rain off but it's made of a lightweight fabric so it can breathe. It also has an elastic band around the bottom. It fits snuggly over all but the bottom couple inches of my tires. It was cheap -- like $40 or $50. My only complaint is that the fabric is so light it will rip holes on stuff like the radio antenna. But I guess that's why God invented duct tape!
