Well recently acquired a 1959 Jeep CJ5 Koenig Top only $800
It runs, shifts and stops, but needs some work of course. Engine and transmission are ok. Transfer case needs rebuilding. Frame is solid, but the floor pan is rusty and patched with road signs. Exhaust has holes and leaf spring hangers need replacing. Needs new tires. Including some photos.
So where should I start to make it road worthy before a restoration?

I can't see the pics, but I say just drive it. I see too many people buy a car and instantly tear it apart. If it's fairly safe, drive it as much as you can to get a feel for what you like.

Cool looking Jeep (looked at the pics in your album). If you want to drive it a bit before restoring, I'd say, "safety first". Sounds like the brakes are okay, so maybe some tires to start. Exhaust leaks and holes in the floor is not an ideal combo for your health...especially with a hard top, I'd likely address the exhaust and spring hangers. This would make it more safe to drive. Then on to the transfer case to make it drive better. Probably be a dozen other things that pop up along the way, but at least this would get you on the road with more piece of mind. Just my 2 cents.
