M416 added to family saturday

    bought a m416 sat. for $695.00.no rust,has surge brakes(probably will remove),hand brake and leg stand are good working order.has stock wheels w/750x16 tires(way to tall) will replace with 600x16 NDC .spare stock wheel and tire.nice wood and metal side boards.fabricated tailgate(they did a pretty good job)stock safety chains and hooks.New pintle hitch and 2"revciever mount.i plan on leaving tailgate on it and paint to match jeep.Any suggestions?? thanks mike s.

    yes that is why i love this forum. so i have a m416 a1.please explain the difference,thank you.i am 61 years old and not real good on computers.some help on posting pic's would be great!!i will take some photos monday and see if my wife can get them posted.

    Mike,
    The different M416s
    M416 -plain jane model
    M416A1 -surge brake
    M416B1 -USMC w/ Mighty Mite rims and lifting rings
    IIRC there were plain jane M416s w/ lifting rings also used by the USMC, but have no specific designation.

    Also IIRC some data plates were labeled as M614 or something like that. These were mistakes, but put on the trailers anyhow. I could be wrong on that, but from what I've seen of them (pictures only) they do look like plain ol' M416s.

    thanks for the info guys.i am working on pic's (soon i hope)will post some of cj-5 also.get'in ready for two week deer hunt.yes it will probably take that long to fill two tags.the wife has a tag.happy jeep'in

    M416B1's also had jerry can brackets infront of both wheels.

    heres mine I kept mine original it is a 1963 ...hey Dessert Runner did you add the jerry can holder or is it supposed to be there ???

    That picture is of a M416-B1 they added the can holders
