I have searches the threades on paints and engine colors for a while and have yet to find or if there is a definitive color for the hurricane engine, trans and transfer case. Ive seen orange, blue, red, greenish blue (225) black, and grey. The external oil canister on my first 134 was orange but the block was grey. feeling puzzled right now and any input would be appreciated
    Thanks!:hurrican:

The oil canister is always orange, unless military, the rest is black. FWIW, I painted my engine pontiac blue and tranny/transfer case chevy orange.

Mine had a Blue valve cover.

I read somewhere (3B page?) that blue is supposed to mean "low altitude export". Don't know if that was valve cover only?

    Also from 3Bpage:
"According to the 1956 Parts List the cylinder head of a standard compression engine should be blue, and a high compression head should be black, but this is one policy which was apparently never adhered to."

Black is the original color for nearly all of these engines, but it's a lousy color for an engine... practically speaking.

Black hides oil leaks, and it makes under-the-hood dark.
