I have a kryptonite bike lock/chain that use to lock my brake pedal to the tube that my seats mount to. I chose the brake b/c I reasoned that a thief, despite thier lack of respect for my hard work, have some respect for thier own lives and wont steal a vehicle that they cant stop. A while ago I inquired about this:

but they are too expensive. Old Bills idea I think is a damn good solution. I also have an old ammo can that I use to lock stuff up. Other than that I dont lock it up at all. Its really easy to cut up a soft top.

When I owned my 81 CJ5, I installed a center locking console that worked but was small for when I went shopping. For additional security, I took out the backseat and then built a wooden locking box for the back end out of 2x8's. I varnished it really well and had two different locks (one on each end) for security. I used the existing seat bolt holes to bolt it to the floor. I never had a problem with people getting into it or even trying that I know of.
