Turning the Weber would be a real project. One that I really don’t feel like doing. I’d like to figure out which of the star points on the magnetic pickup to remove and make it so it only makes a spark on the terminals I need.

I went a different route creating a Cast aluminum intake already set up for a Weber DGV it originally fit a 1500cc MG engine. I cut the manifold through the center of the Plenum and added .410" of material then added material to each mounting flange and reshaped it to fit the same as the stock manifold. I then made a 1/2" thick Phenolic spacer to return the carb mounting holes to the correct position. I then used Motor Cycle cable and 90° tubes to effect the change in direction of the throttles.

Is that easier than building a manifold from tubing? Looks like you had no trouble with the exhaust header. I like the idea of using an existing manifold and changing the port spacing.

Based on this 4cyl distributer it looks like the used the same cap molding but left every other terminal off. It might be worth either calling them to ask about the magnetic pickup or ordering one, looking at it then sending it back.

If you mean trouble between the intake and the Header no. If you mean making the Header that was about 3 weeks of Back breaking head scratching cussing and screaming a dozen discussions with race car header builders on the net and stuff like that. I am not sure I would ever try it again. Its all made from cuts of factory mandrel bends. Which to get what I needed were sourced from I think 4 different places. Its all MIG welded then the welds ground smooth on my Knifemaker Belt grinder and a fancy flap sander I have.

As to making the Intake once I figured out how to cut and expand it that part was not hard but was a bit fiddly and would have been hard to do had I not had a BIG mill drill to jig it up in and make the cuts perfectly square and flat. As it had to be cut free hand on my metal cutting band saw. I had the welding done by a local shop who has done fancy TIG welding for me in the past. He did not disappoint.

The hard part with a Tubing manifold is not so much the tubes as it is the Plenum and how to create it. As without a Plenum the manifold has little if any advantage over the stock one. A plenum allows a Fuel air charge to be ready to be sucked into the combustion chamber much easier then drawing it as needed through the venture in the carb.
