And you used what from the jeep for your build. Looks good, you should be proud of your work. Is it licensed to drive on the street?

The drivetrain changed a bit over the years. It was originaly a 75 with a 258, T18, D20 combo. I wheeled like that for awhile, eventually swapping to wide ratio gears in the T18. Later on I did a springover and linked the rear suspension with a set of wider D44 axles. The best thing I ever did to it though was putting a stroked, fuel injected 4.0 in there when the 258 cam went flat. That really changed my ability to use the jeep. I redid the rear and stretched the wheelbase 10" and that was a really good setup, but the body was literaly falling apart on the frame. I was happy with how it worked, but not happy about how it was built, so I started with a clean slate so to speak. As you can probably tell by now the jeeps been an ongoing project of snowball upgrades!

The only things really left from the old jeep: Crank and rods from the 258, T18 trans case(gears are not stock), D20 case(gears are not stock), Grill, Hood, Cowl, Steering column and turn signal switch, Hi-lo headlight switch, charcoal cannister, I think thats about it.

It is licensed and insured, but I'm sure the officer would have a field day with me if they caught me, on top of the fact that the only vin on the whole thing I obviously put there, so no I don't drive it on the streets at all. Its purely an offroad vehicle at this point. I've considered putting some type of fender flares on it and trying, but I think I'd rather not push my luck that far and just enjoy it when I can.

Thanks for the kudos guys, its been a long road!

You could drive that thing in Ky. Use to drive a tube frame buggy with a VW engine all the time. Was titled as a VW Beetle. Just stuck the vin. on it somewhere. As long as it was a transfer in state no problem.
