    Saw that in a magazine a few years ago and have wanted to try it myself. Just been to lazy to change things once I get them complete. Sure would make it easier to work on.

    Yep...I say go for it!

    Easy access to everything....headers...plug wires...shocks...frame...the whole works.


    I might even go so far as pinned connections for complete quick removal. Course that'd probably rattle like all get out.

    Neat idea, but don't most folks have a ton of stuff mounted to the inner fenders? My fuse box, ground bus bar and a lot of wiring are attached there on mine.

    when i did my rewire i moved everythng to my firewall, that would be really cool to do. talk about easy access!!

    Inexpensive realy, for $20 - $30 dollars. Sure would make it easy working on the motor or anything up front.

    I had to move all that stuff to go to the 1-pc front clip anyway. At least with this approach you could leave stuff mounted there and just re-do the wiring to accomodate the fender movement.

    This may be a stupid question, but how do you "open" the fenders without removing the front wheels? Wouldn't the wheel wells hit the tires?

    No - good question. Probably depends on your lift/tire combo.

    THis one looks to have had the inner fenders cut out to clear. IIRC, the other one I looked at had flexible rubber on the inner fenders.

    Or maybe could hinge a section of the inner fender?

    Notice that he had to cut the inner fenders out to clear over the tires as the fenders swing out. I'd do it, but I don't want to hack up my inners...

    um yeh great idea but i can just see someone forgeting to latch the fenders and hood so when they go down the road the hood flies up and fenders back R)

    And who would that "someone" be...? ;)

    I'm lucky that the one-pc clip must have funneled wind such that it never got under it and lifted it up, 'cause I sure forgot to latch it enough times...

    Maybe run the starter circuit through a switch/contact that is only closed if the fender is closed....

    but one advantage to all that happening is if you needed to make an emergency stop right then it would be like putting out a parachute R)

    I think it may make a difference if you have steel fenders or fiberglass. The fiberglass will have a little more give to them. Not too sure how the steel fenders would work. Its a neat idea though.

    I think the rubber mud flap on the inner fender wells is a good idea.
