The stock J-truck springs aren't that arched, so depending on how much lift you need and whether you're doing a spring over.... well, you know.

The J-truck springs are 46-inches long, with 24-inches on the spring mount and 22-inches on the shackle mount side. Since J-trucks don't have shackle reversals on the front, the springs work well in a rear application to lengthen the wheelbase since the short end will face rearward towards the shackle.

    I'd say go for it.

thanks mr. jp for the reply currently my cj-5 has rear springover with stock 1 3/4 springs that bent urban wheeling on a hondo civic i have followed your builds ever since your dodge @petersens. im running 40's with dana 60's i made my rear spring perches with 1'' offset pin holes i have stretched the front out 4'' already with a shackle reversal any rear driveshaft length will help

Argh, stick a knife in my chest. I was just looking at photos of my Dodge this morning and kicking myself for selling it.

Woah! 40s on a CJ-5. Even with the stretched wheelbase that's a lot of tire. How 'bout some pics.

Since you're spring over the stock springs will probably be fine height-wise. You can always make up the difference with some longer shackles, which will probably be needed thanks to the longer springs' potential for flex/travel.

The j10 springs sound like a great idea and I have a set of Rancho 4 inch springs that were take offs that i may try out.
