Does the location of the seat belt attachment look strange.

As an engineer I find the location of the attachment points strange. This is on a 1974 CJ5. There is a hole to the left of the driver's seat belt attachment point but it is too small for the seat belt attachment bolt. A big thanks to Zila for helping me out with the bolt to attached the passenger side seat belt.

    Same as my '75...

Maybe it has something to do with the optional 60-40 split bench seat.

Ding ding ding! I think we have a winner here!

My '73 has them in exactly the same place.

That's where the seat belt anchors on my '70, too.
But in '72 they moved the drivers seat to the left a couple inches....obviously the seat belt mounting point didn't get moved, leading to the odd looking spacing there.

Ok, Just wanted to know if I should go have my head examined. Maybe I should go anyway for trying to keep this thing on the road.

Could be a universal placement for when the 60/40 bench is installed?

When I rebuilt my 5 I had to relocate them. the asymmetrical location of them drove me bonkers. I also made some angle brackets so they did not bolt to the floor. I also moved the pass side seat over because it was not the same distance from the edge of the seat to the side of the body. This gave me a couple more inches for a center console which I still have not yet created.

Don't feel alone. I found it odd also when we first got our '73.
Something else also felt off when driving compared to my previous two 1970's. Could not place it.
It wasn't until I read a post of Tim's that stated the that the driver's position was moved in the intermediates.

I just looked at my 75 Renegade and the seat belt bolt is closer to the drivers seat similar to the location of your passenger picture.. Your welcome on the bolt, it was just taking up space in my bolt bin.. I still have 2 OEM ignition modules if anyone needs one.

Edit: OK I had a senior moment.. I moved the location when I redid my seats and added a 3 point belt, I do have the holes as shown.. DOH!! I hate it when I out smart myself.
