I have a good quality HVLP paint gun . But I have never used it for auto boby work before. Just want to know if it will work as good as a conventional spray gun . It works good on my wood projects . If it will work to paint my jeep I won't have to buy a conventional gun . And if it will work can I use the same tip I use for polyurethane . thanks

I have used both and prefer the HVLP. But that is a personal preference. depending on how fine the tip is you shouldn't have a problem. What number tip do you have???

I use a 1.4mm tip for laying down my primer and a 1.0mm tip for the base and clear coat and have been happy with the results. I would use the #1 I beleive it is 1.4mm which is the standard size that most guns come with.
