Dana 44 full float and Willy's axles
Full float with limited slip
I'd offer him what you think it's worth. personally, my top dollar would be $400 for both and pop the covers before making an offer
The seller obviously has no clue about axles. Pop the covers first. If they have powerlocks then they have far more value then if open. Could be $500 if in good shape. Might be 11" Backing plates also.
Let me know if you want me to go take a look. BTW what are 5:1 gears, 4:88 maybe?
Awesome. No idea on the gearing, but I would change it anyway since my front D30 already has a locker and I want to match the gearing in it now. I'll probably contact him with a fairly low offer and see what he says. I think he had them listed a few months ago for $600, maybe he's ready to just get them out of his yard. He also has these.
Ford gpw/ Willy's mb axles
He probably isn't getting many hits, the only way I found them was by searching Willys with an apostrophe like Willy's.
Call his wife and ask her how much he wants for them.
500 bucks for the D44.
Hmm, I need those G503 axles.
I will not split them up and I have 3 people lined up to pick them up this weekend.
I use that line all the time. Unless they have powerlocks, there wouldn't be anybody lining up.
the D27 is not really desirable. Its missing the calipers and really its only worth the hubs that may be disk hubs/spindles from a D30, but probably not. His add is selling the FF setup with disposal of the D27 and not value added really.
If there are 10 guys lined up for it, good for him. There is a limit to how much a used unknown condition axle sure to need some sort of work is worth.
The question is, are the FF axle shafts 30 spline, power lock, spindles D30 disk or what. The drive flanges are nice, but the additional cost of Warn premium locking hubs to add the functionality of flat towing then adds to the cost. It may be cheaper to just make your own out of Ebay parts and buy Herms axle shafts. We all have old D44 axles anyway, so whats the draw?
People think this stuff is gold, when in reality its old junk cobbled together thats mostly worn out.
Agreed. Ultimately I would like to go 30 spline with a Detroit and full float. I don’t really need the hubs on rear, just would like the wheels to stay on if the axle breaks so it can be driven home. Guess I’ll just start collecting parts as money allows to make that happen. Probably can’t just go buy the entire kit at once.
I’m always tempted to just buy a modern D44 with a limited slip but guessing getting it shortened and converted to 5 lug pattern would be just as expensive as upgrading mine.
I need to revisit the Varg with the rodeo axle. Maybe that’s an avenue worth exploring.
That's a long drive for something that may be just a bunch of used up parts. It's pretty easy to collect the parts for this conversion for cheaper than a conversion kit. Heck, how many D30s do you have? You might have a majority of the parts already.
With a warm of231 and a heavy right foot I broke every t90 to have the misfortune to reside under my floorboards. Wore out and broke many a universal. I never broke or twisted a 19spline axle or spun a tapered 44 hub. 33's and locker to boot. Just saying.....
I still sell a lot of short side 19 and 10 spline axles though.
6 lug, don't forget.
There's parts on my D30's to use on a full float D44? I haven't read much on the conversion yet, I thought Focker did a thread on his but couldn't find it.
