My Jeep and pickup both have heated seats...heated by my butt

My Chrysler has heated seats...never use em. I really don't get the appeal.

On a cold winter morning when you forget to double-click the remote start a few minutes before departure to warm up the cabin, it's nice to sit on a warm seat.

It's the person that starts the car while you stay inside where it's warm. Block heaters and timers are also handy!

take a look at a 1950's/early 1960's Volvo some time. They had what looked like a key-ring on the end of a chain. When you pulled the ring, you would pull up a window-shade in front of the radiator. The lower the outside temp, the higher you raise the shade.

I just got the idea that I could replace the cooling fan with an electric fan and have it come on say 190 and off at 175. That may keep my engine temps in the correct temp range. What do you think?

With your 180*F thermostat, it's unlikely the fan will ever turn off if the "off" set temperature is set at 175*F. Normally, you want the electrical fan controller's "on" set temperature to be 15*F above thermostat operating temperature and the "off" temperature to be 5*F above the thermostats operating temperature. This way the fan only operates when needed and does not run continuously because of a low "off" set temperature.

Does your thermostat have a small hole drilled in the flange in the flow area and is the thermostat installed with the correct orientation?
If there is no hole allowing slight water flow allowing warm water on the back side of water, or the capsule in contact with cold water side the thermostat will not open allowing warm water to circulate.

My 195* thermostat does not have a small hole in it. It was installed correctly. When the thermostat opens the upper hose gets hot.

But the v6 has a bypass hose that goes from right behind the thermostat to the pump that pretty much does the same thing...at the same time, a hole in the thermostat probably wouldn't hurt anything.

The hole in the thermostat flange assists in purging air from the block where as the bypass allows coolant to be pulled from the thermostat housing and returned to the block during warm up.

I have an aftermarket heater that is fantastic. I just needed warmer engine temp to make hotter air coming out of it.

My 58 has a heated steering wheel from the factory. Only problem is it only works with the top down, and sitting in the sun on 100 degree days.

Following that logic, the air conditioning in my Jeep is working great today!

And people said Willys were a no frills, no extras vehicle. Look at all the built in features we've just talked about.
