I have had the powerlock in my D27 for a couple of years now. It works great most of the time. The biggest issue was when one tire was slipping I could not get the other tire to grap. Too many pedals and not enough room or feet (clutch, brake, gas and tight space). Last weekend at Hollister I was in this situation and tried to tap the gas and then apply brake quickly or vice versa. I was able to get the tire on the ground to start to grab but only briefly.
This got me to thinking about a hand throttle. I decided to use a bicycle brake handle and cable. I have most of it fabbed up. The biggest problem is how to mount the cable to the carb. I picked up some cable stops but I am having trouble trying to drill through the throttle linkage.
    Any ideas?

Steve had posted a simular thread a while back about how he made his hand throttle out of the bike shifter. He made his own little bracket that held the cable at the carb then just wrapped the wire through the throttle linkage and used a small cable connecter to hold it together. He put up some photos, hope it helps.

    Thanks guys.
I notice Steve has a cable linkage, but it has me thinking. Thanks for reminding me of his thread I do remember seeing it when first posted.
I talked to a friend that may have a drill bit that will cut this super hard metal.

Thanks for that Patrick, keep the ideas coming. Going to look at both options.
    I love this forum.

    Patrick,

That is exactly how my cruise control works on my '72 Blazer. It picks up the vehicles speed with 4 magnets wired to the drive shaft. I put 6 on the front drive shaft for cruise control in low range. Still works.:D

Just throwing out another idea. This is the throttle stop I made for the 3B throttle body-just an adjustable pivot arm with a bronze roller hooked to a standard twist lock cable.

Thanks for all of the pics and ideas. I think i have it figured out. I worked on it some more last night and have it all hooked up. I just need to take it for a test drive.
Pics of finished later in the day!

Took it out for a test drive last night, extremely happy with the results! Added one pic to my Picasa page (above post) with how I finally attached to the carb.
