That's some snotty mud! We haven't had rain in a few months; I was starting to forget what mud looked like.

Your jeep sounds sweet. Nice driving!

Today's project. With my cs144 i had problem with slipping belt. So i fab a mount using the oil pump cover bolt and put a pulley between them.

I talked to a specialist in alternator and other system, i can use the back side of the v belt over the pulley using (dont know the name) the v belt i have over the picture

I need to do a test ride but i can still use the regular patern in case of problem.

Aint give any test drive, just run the engine and give it some rev.

For now the is no more slip on the belt. I will give some feedback after i give it a try on the trail.
Problem always occur on trail when i'm riding at low rpm, when everything getting hot the belt start slipping, at least i think ahah

Hopefully that will work for you , which looks like you have about 180 degrees of belt to pulley contact................In HD applications for high amperage alternators , high volume oil or power steering pumps the goal is to get more belt contact on the driven pulley......the addition of the idler pulley allows for the belt to be pushed up and around the driven pulley to gain contact and eliminate slippage............ in fact I just did a system for my LS motor that has 270 degrees of contact using a serpentine belt........V-belts have a much harder time living on small diameter pulleys or tight turns.............If that continues to slip try moving the Idler pulley up a little higher or get a larger diameter idler.

Hum thank for the input tarry. I realy think i would be ok with this. It's a v belt so i dont want to give it too much extreme angle as serpentine can take. I double the surface contact of the belt over the pulley vs oem.

As for pulley diamater and location, i can't use a bigger one, it will get in contact with alt or crank pulley, and moving up higher will get it yo contact the water pump.

All Good points Johney...........and your are on the right track by adding the idler..........just giving you some suggestions to perhaps help if it still slips..........

So i give it a good road test, for the moment the belt stay over the idler pulley. I was afraid that it could slip of the pulley when engine would rev up, but no problem so far.

Still need to give a test on the trail, for the moment i almost only do pavement road going to my job, trail time are not often this year since i'm a father since february :)

Hey Tarry i should not read you're comment, now i just got my head on how i can give more contact area to my belt ahah

I find out that i could use another pulley and use the top alternator braket to hold it in place, i would be able this way to get a full 270 of contact area. Using another pulley will minimise the negative bent as if i put the first one higher it would give too much angle.

Hey Congratulations on the new addition to your family.........that if anything will change your life......

On your adding another Idler...........first try what you have and see if that will keep it from slipping........If not well then proceed to plan B.

Here is the billet compact Drive System that Casey Wenger built for my LS............look at the wrap on the Power Steering pump which also has hydro assist./ AC pump and a 200 amp alternator. Built with an optional bracket , Idler and shorter belt in case I want to remove the AC pump...

nice kit for the LS, but at least ou have a serp belt, so you should worry less than me with my V belt.

Thank for the comment on my family, it does change our life but it just a infinite source of happyness :)

About 1 hour of road done and everything is running well.

Last week i also move the sending unit for my fan control, from the the heater hoze to the intake on my 360. I use the place where oem sending unit for temp gage. Since i'm running a TBI set-up, a dual fan controler and a mechanical temp gage, i need three sending unit. In the past i did make an adapter for the two extra sending unit that put inline the heater hoze.

So at first i did put the tbi sending unit on the intake and move the fan control and temp gage to the heater hoze adapter. My way to think at that moment that TBI was in need to have the most accurate reading. I had difficult to calibrate the dual fan controler and since couple's of week ago i was thinking about about a bad controler (don't worry i have a direct swith in case of problem with controler). So as stated above i did move the fan controler sending unit onto the intake to see what it will do.

I found out that i was not in the best set-up, because now i'm able to calibrate the controler for the right temp. I have a durale dual control fan. It start both fan at different temperature. You set the temp for the first fan, and the other will start 10F more than the first one. Also it will turn off the second fan first 5F below it's start degree and will turn off the first with 5F less it's start degree too. I'm now realy happy with it, it work as suppose.
