Getting Grease Into Driveshaft U-joints

    My Jeep is a 1967 CJ-5 with the 225 V6.

When I inject grease into the U-joints of the driveshafts using a grease gun, I see grease coming out of 1 or 2 of the bearings, but never out of all 4 of them. Does that mean grease isn't getting in everywhere it should or is it nothing to worry about?

Are the U-joints of the front driveshaft pressed in? Do I remove them by using a press to force them out?

Why the front driveshaft U-joints are that way, but the rear driveshaft U-joints have clips that can removed so the U-joints can be easily removed from the driveshaft, I do not know.

How can the sliding yoke be removed from the front driveshaft?

Thanks very much for any help.

if the joint doesn't feel dry . then use it
only if you plan to replace them
loosen collar at end of spline . but if slip joint is rusted tight . it will take some effort

the clips are probrobly on the inside. they are small and hard to work with you wont see them if they are covered in crud. The only u joints iv seen with no clips are on modern jeeps the u joints are not removable from the driveshaft at all you have to buy a new one!

In the past some ujoints were installed with molten plastic injected around the cap. It then hardens and hold the joint in place. Never saw one on a Jeep though.

Pull on it, just stuck from some crud on it...If you have time pull the joint apart an see to the grease not getting to the 2. Or run it an it will tell you when its time to replace it.:)

I cleaned things up and you are right, all the u-joints on both my driveshafts are held on by c-clips on the inside.
