I have front and rear chevy disks. With the full float conversion they work amazing. I did it because at the time they were really cheap to do. Rock auto had calipers for 12 bucks with pads. Thats the only reason I did it. Now I have power 4 wheel disk brakes. Love them, but still don't have a good E brake. If I had the real rear 11" drums with the e brake stuff, I would install them.

The problem as I understand it is finding the 11" with the brake setup. I was able to get a set for my wagon by being on the waiting list with TheJeepGuy for months. He said they just are harder and harder to find according to him.

Yes 11" stuff is now more expensive than disc. I have bought many Jeeps because they had 4 11" Backing plates.

Did Jeep make a 10 inch brake with a e-brake in them. I think I got some on a axle out of, I don know.

I agree. I have all the brakes I'll ever need. I put the 11" drums in back specifically for a good functioning e-brake. I'm all done with the t-case brake. Never worked anyway.

Gee I must have bought one of the last readily available 11" drum kits from TheJeepGuy.

Are the brakes worth anything, I have a axle that needs to disappear. Center pumpkin, flange axle.

Question on master push rods: I had to do some parts swapping and adjustment from my stock master to the replacement to make the rod retainer work on the new master. When installed the push rod needs to be slightly shifted over toward the right so it hooks onto the pedal assembly. Then you can put the washer and cotter pin in. So its not a perfectly straight shot over to the master which makes me think I have something wrong. Just want to see if everyone else had the push rod perfectly in line with the pedal or if others had a slight cant to the right as well.

Just about the best axle out there. Lets you get rid of a noisy 18 transfer case and go to a 20. It is also a bolt in swap for a 76 and up 5 or 7 to get rid of a junk 20 rear end.

When I put in my double disk corvette master on the frame I had to re engineer the whole set up. I made a custom frame mount and had to put the pin on the opposite side of the brake arm to get it straight. Used a heim joint on the arm side with a custom push rod I made. It needs to be fairly straight.

Its pretty darn straight but if the cotter pin were to fall out the rod would move about 1/4" over and no longer be attached to the pedal. I don't feel good about that fact so its coming off again today. Perhaps the original was like that and I didn't notice but I think I can get it straight and thus sleep at night.

Sorry I wasn't clear. The rod was pushing slightly against the washer/cotter. I got it sitting square now. The washer and cotter pin can't work loose anymore. On to bleeding.

I have a set of 11 inch drums from a 65 F100 that I took out of a truck that I was scrapping. I have to cut one of the axle a off and chock it in the lathe to mount the drums so I can open up the center hole to clear the Jeep hub. But they are another source of 11 inch brakes. T J

I've been keeping notes on this one for a while now. As far as the studs go, it's been reported on Brennan'a Garage facebook page by someone who's done the conversion that Bantam trailer studs work and you don't have to drill the rotors. These were the parts numbers listed that I have in my notes:

    Wheel Studs:
Bantam Trailer for no drilling the rotors
    Part numbers:
    Napa 641-1137
    Dorman 610-191
    Raybestos 0528B

I'm sitting back and taking notes as a lot of good stuff comes out as these conversion are done.

    My thought on Master cylinders:
This may only work for me as I have already made changes in my Jeep. I have adapted a Mazda B2200 set of swing predals into my Jeep and am using a brake booster from a Nissan Sentra. I still have the Master cylinder from that Sentra (disk front, drum rear). With this conversion, using Geo Tracker parts I should have good enough fluid pressure to operate the brakes. All the vehicles involved have roughly the same weight so I'm hoping the conversion will work well.
I'll let everyone know when I get it all together. I'm waiting on my D30 front to come back from being re-geared.

I used a 2002 Nissan Altima swinging pedal, booster and master with a disc brake D30 and 10" drums in rear. I would say my Jeep almost stops too well. Just the weight of my foot on the pedal has my head bobbing forward like a rap star. It stops extremely well now.

Has anybody ever considered using a line lock for an e-brake? You know like the drag racers use when doing burnouts in the water pit. I saw the Roadkill guys install one on something and immediately thought it would make a good e-brake for our Jeeps but what do I know .

All the time but they generally are not something that will hold over time. So not a long term parking brake.

In states that require state safety inspections, they won't fly. A mechanically actuated brake is necessary.
