    Bear with me...I'm bored. ;)

Any comments on this idea for a Fire Ext. mount? My only question is if I can get the rubber hood tie-downs long enough to go around the fire extinguisher body. I figure it could either be welded to the rollcage or secured through the backbone with some hose clamps.

I used a dog collar with a quick release buckle instead of the rubber hood tie down to secure my bottle and bracket to a rollbar upright. The bracket is screwed to the rollbar, the collar is just for added support and to keep it from bouncing (the bracket isn't all that great for preventing movement).
The hood tiedown should work just as well... but the dog collar might be more "dutch" ;) :D

I use these giant rubber thingies that the lawn-garden folks use to tie saplings to stakes. They sell 'em in two-paks and they are better than a foot long and about 1.5" wide. Stretch good.

Already have a spare set of the tiedowns that have been hanging on the wall for 5 years...;)

What size bottles do you guys carry? I was able to get some metal mounts that use a metal clasp deal that goes around the bottle. Works great, very secure. Bought at the hardware store like $5.

    But, I understand boredom.

I have the "typical" size extinguisher that you'd pick up at Lowes or Walmart. 14" tall or so.

I've heard of those metal mounts but have never found them locally.

Mike, I have an extra one if you need it. I'll shoot a couple
of pictures of how I have mine mounted. It works pretty
    well.

    Mike, here you go.
003 is of of the bracket. I used a bent screw to get the curve. Something better could be made.
005 is a different bracket I have laying around.
007 is my mount under the drivers seat. There is a place to put the pin in it to "lock" it. It's quick
disconnect but won't bounce out. The bracket was bought from Lowes and slightly modified.
Let me know if your interested in either, or need more pics. :stout:

I like the underseat mount. Which part came from Lowes - just the clamp? Maybe I just didn't look hard enough there...

Mike, the black part that the "u" bolts go through is the bracket I bought.
I believe the other strap in the third pic was the one that came w/ it.
I took it off and put on one of two brackets I got from a military surplus
place. What's on the bracket is the same as the first picture. I used a
bent screw for the bracket to clamp. Like I said something better could
be made. I had this set up on my rail buggy for about 10 years. Only
verticle. Never slipped. In the third picture you can see the long screw
on the left. What I like about this bracket is you can put a pin through
a couple of holes and it locks the ext. in. Pull the pin and flip the lever
to release the ext. Quick and easy. I haven't seen these types of bracket
around. Not sure what they came off.

Thanks John....tell you what -- let me go and take a look-see at Lowes and the local Mil Surplus. If I can't scare up anything local I'll take you up on a bracket.

around and come up w/ interesting stuff. Maybe PM Sandhill about your needs.
    He's involved w/ Mil Surplus.

I have a similar metal bracket that Panzer uses, only I mount mine with hose clamps directly to the rollbar behind the drivers seat. Very secure, and easily accessible to folks inside and outside the Jeep if need be.
