I finished the wiring on my A1 and am ready to start the fuel system. I have a new steel fuel tank and have run new steel fuel lines. I have a civilian style no vacuum fuel pump along with the A1 fuel pump spacer and the special bolts. I have run into a problem and have a question.

I have an oil line running from the block to the filter housing. It looks like it has to be removed/relocated to clear the pump? I have seen other pictures of other F-heads that don't appear to have the line in the same place?

And the spacer: Is this for the military pump only to clear the extra large vacuum pump or is it on the civilian motors as well? When I got the jeep, it had one of those little square Facet electric pumps on the fender with a giant filter because of what I am assuming was the rusty original tank. So I have nothing to compare it too.

Help me if I am wrong, but my intent is to pull the oil line and re-fit it so it will clear the pump bolts. Then install the civilian fuel pump with some ordinary bolts as it looks to me the spacer is military only.

OK, looks like the civilian pump does not need the spacer. I got a 1/4" hardline with flare fittings and bent my own line to clear the pump bolt. Need to pick up one more fitting I ordered. Will get it tomorrow. Hopefully I will have the fuel system buttoned up except for sorting out the sender where it works with my gauge. I will use the special LONG bolt for the A1 pump, but I screwed a nut on the threads until it bottomed to make it clamp.
