Got a leak where the pipe joins the manifold, actually two- mid point both sides but it's worse towards the driver's side.

Pipe is 1 1/2" stainless & the shop put a very beefy flange on there, must be a 1/4" thick.

Can anyone recommend a good (brand name) gasket that will crush down a bit to seal the leaks?

    Thanks,

    H.

Did you check to see if the flange is distorted from uneven tightening?

Howard, remflex did not suck. I realize typing that, that way, MAY not help, but they ARE pretty good. Think about removing the manifold and gluing 100 grit sandpaper to a plywood guy to sand the faces flatter. You are not removing ever 1/8 of an inch from the face here. You do not need the other one removed, it does not leak, right?

Mr Gasket makes some extra thick gasket material you can use to make your own. It's meant for headers but works well on lots of stuff. It can be a pain to cut and is kind of expensive but it works very well on exhaust. I used to use it to make my own header gaskets because I'd blow them frequently when I Was racing ( problem with one exhaust port being slightly eroded). The stuff has to be 1/4" thick. Once I started using that stuff problems went away.

    Only got the one :)

And there's a stud sticking out of it that negates any sanding operations.

Make sure you tighten it evenly. Spin nuts on until flange mates up flat, then apply one turn at a time to each nut.
