:? :? Does any one out there have a pic of how the factory wire harness on a 67 F-134 CJ-5 should run? I'm finishing up my resto and I need to anchor in my new wire harness. I don't have any good pics of the engine bay before I took it all apart. :? :?

Also does any one know where I can get the original style "clips" that hold the harness?

I hope to have this baby runnig this weekend after a VERY long resto.

    Thanks!

Sorry I don't have any pics (V6 doesn't help, does it?). I recall schardein (I think) asking about those clips once, and I don't recall if a source for them was found. Might try doing a search.

Good luck with the finishing touches!!

    Wingtime, BTDT!!!
I did find a place online that had them, but I have since got a new computer and that bookmark is long gone. I will try to find it this weekend. I did a search for ......geez can't remember. The place I found had a bunch of different things like the caged nuts on the tub that the tranny cover/floor pan screw into, the twisted wire thingies that hold the welting to the top of the grill, and those wire harness holders. They had several different styles, including one that looked very close. I do remember that the various categories of items would open in a PDF format.
    Never bought anything though.
If you want to PM me your email address I can send you a collection of engine bay pics I got for exactly what you are asking. I believe I have some for F4s as well. Only thing is it will be this weekend before I get to it.

Alan, you got a good memory!

The haynes manual has a pretty decent diagram of both the 4 Cylinder and the V6

The Haynes manual is just a direct copy of the FSM IIRC.

Maybe I wasn't too clear on what I needed or I'm misunderstanding the replys. I the wire harness is all wireed up I and I have it run in generally the correct areas. But what I'm looking for is the correct way to fastin/clip it to the firewall and fender.

I seem to remember finding a vintage wire hardware place too. They had clips to hold the looms connectors and speciality hardware such as the square nuts with the clips on them. HHHMMMMM anyone remember this place?

I'd think wherever the wire is laying is where it should be fastened to the fenderwell or firewall.

This is a little too restoration specific even for me.

Bruce, you may have just inadvertantly solved "The Mystery of The Ventilating Windshield Replacement Weatherstripping", currently playing on the Early CJ forum.

Looks like a great resource for just about everything.

    Thanks for the link,

    H.

JZ Those are priceless pics of your jeep. Thanks for such a good documentation of your jeep and for sharing with others.

Now I know where the harness runs down the firewall and where to get the clips. Now all that is needed is the routing along the fender and the terminal block.

Let me know if you still need the wiring picture. I think mine is run correctly. I have looked at RS for the seals on my venting ws but I am not sure what the original shape was. the PO replaced it with one that works but I don't think it is the same.

My jeeps are not a 100 percent resto. But I was very pleased with using back zip ties in many of the places to hold my wires down. If you have (or drill) 2 small holes in the inside of a fender wall, and you can run the zip tie through it. And then loop it over the wiring harness. I don't pull them very tight. Just tight enough to hold the wire in the area. I also used them to run the wires to the tail lights under the frame. So far no problems. And it was a quick process.

No terminal block in 1959 (or fuses!) Just a point-to-point harness...

PO work is a real rats nest of plastic, tape, and original (cotton-insulated) wire. I am still in the process of talking myself out of a Painless kit.

So don't get the Painless, get the EZ Wiring www.ezwiring.com
About half the price, and appears to be the same thing. The wire is
high quality, and very well marked and color coded. Admittedly, the
instructions are very basic, but then I downloaded the Painless instructions, and they weren't much more help although a larger set. Save the cash. R)

BTW...The EZ wiring tip was in a previous thread. I think McGruff suggested it.....

if you are stock and don't want the fuses there is a replacement harness available. it is what I bought and the price was less or equal to the ez harness and I had I installed in about 2 hours total.

60CJ5- thanks for the pics! I think I bought the same harness you have. It looks identicle and is very correct for a resto. I have my brake cable clamped to the fender too. It looks like I have my harness run pretty much the right way I just need to get some of the clips from Resto Specialties to finish up.
