I am thinking about changing from carburetor to EFI. I was looking at the Megasquirt site and I think they have all the components I need. I have a 1969 CJ5 V6 225 oddfire. I want opinions about the pros and cons, fuel economy, HP and Torque. PresentlyI have a stock manifold with a Rochester 2G. Another option I have is to replace the stock manifold with an offenhauser with a Holley 4 barrel 8007 Carb. I have done so many modification so far the only original parts is the frame, body, transmission/transfer case. I know original jeep restorers would raise a eye ball at this Jeep restoration.

If your thinking of anything other than the Megasquirt, I like the EZ-EFI and I can say for sure it works fine with HEI as an input signal on both the Offy Dual Plane and a Kenne Bell Number One intake. I originally ran a Projection Powerjection III, would steer clear due to recent quality issues (mine is an early model headed for the wife's '66 Mustang). Most of the components for the EZ-EFI can be replaced with off the shelf parts found all over the place as well (GM injectors and sensors).

I've seen good things about the FiTech system, but have not validated the use of HEI as a signal (no spark control - but that's normal for a 225). They offer a Command Center Sump kit that will allow you to keep stock fuel lines for most of the system and only use the high pressure for the short circuit to the EFI and back. Don't know about the interchange here, but may find out in the next year as my neighbor is looking at it for his 225, and I'll be helping with the install for him.

Again - these systems don't offer spark control - just fuel control.

Sorry - didn't address the performance. I believe these bring out every ounce of power in these motors. I originally got the Powerjection to put on the '51 so the wife could run it anyplace I could (replaced a TA470 and Holley 390 prior to that). Starts easy and runs at any angle and altitude (important for us in CO and for her). I did find an improvement in mileage, but then I don't drive them a ton 'on the road'.

Still working on the megasquirt so cant say how it runs, but it is a fun learning experience for me. Brought my build thread back up earlier tonight...
