So I went to look at what I think is a '46 DJ. Basket case PA JEEP. Parts vehicle. Has a title, though I didn't see it yet to confirm it says DJ or not. Has a hard top, stuck F134 some threw in and destroyed the hood, 4x4 with very early WWII style front axle.

I cannot confirm the year but, I didn't think DJs came along until later. Could be a Frankenjeep. Tubular front crossmember, big turn signals in the grill, later speedo. Definitely a DJ body though.

What else should I be looking for? Any market for the parts or should I walk away. Like I said, there's a title but there are no ID tags on the body to the frame.

Well you can read on this a little.

The Dispatcher Jeep on The CJ-3B Page

The easiest way to tell if it is a DJ is to look for the CJ style speedometer in the dash as you mentioned. But 46 title and no body or engine serial number would be not so good. Some pre 56 are titled by the engine serial number.

Always the possibility that it is a 46 with a DJ body swapped on as a replacement.

Any photos or a link to the ad?

I snapped a few with my phone but nothing that great. He hasn't advertised it.

Doors on the hardtop open as normal car doors would....not reversed like suicide doors and they aren't the sliding type. Rear window slides up on a track into the inside.

Some quick research tells me that the DJ wasn't even available until '55 or '56.

Frame didn't seem like a 2A piece to me. I'm thinking it's a 3A that someone threw an early front axle under, F head drivetrain, and there's some random title with the whole mess.

If I thought I could sell the HT quickly, I'd think about buying but, I really don't want to have that thing laying around. The rest of it can be kept fairly easily because a lot of it will go the scrap yard since it's that rough.
