Any help on the appropriate specs for a drivers side mirror for a 65 CJ5? Or pics? Can't seem to find any evidence that there was a passenger side mirror. Would this be correct?

    Thanks for any help!!

I do know for the Tuxedo Parks there was an option for a passenger side mirror when ordering your Jeep. Mirrors are 5” round with a straight solid arm, not a adjustable arm.

Regular CJ5 had a painted 5" mirror and non-adjustable arm (as Roy said above). They used the long arm, maybe 16" or 18" or so?

As Roy mentioned above, there was indeed an option (on both the Tux and non-Tux versions) for ordering a CJ-5 with an outside right mirror.

The pages below are from a 1965-dated Jeep Data Book intended for use by salesmen. Note that under Optional Equipment, Cab Equipment, there were two versions - the outside right mirror for the CJ-5a Tux was chrome, like the one in Roy's photo, and the one for the "regular" CJ-5 would have been painted black.

The mirror assemblies themselves shared part numbers with the outside mirrors used on the driver's side, though the windshield hinge where the right side mirror attached had a different part number than the non-mirrored version. My brother-in-law's '67 has its original passenger side windshield hinge that was factory drilled and tapped to mount the optional outside right mirror (yep, he knows it's the wrong color!):

If this is like the later models, the passenger-side mirror stalk would position the mirror head ahead of the driver. The driver would then look through the right side of the windshield to see the mirror.

I do have a NOS right chrome windshield hinge with the tapped holes for mounting an optional mirror on a Tux. I have never seen a Tux in person with the right mirror.

Would you want to sell that windshield hinge Donny? Or would you draw me a template to try and have one fabricated?

If Donny doesn't want to sell that hinge, you've probably already got what amounts to a template. The passenger side hinge with tapped mounting holes is a mirror image of the driver's side hinge. All the drivers' side hinges have the tapped mirror mounting holes, so you could trace and reverse that pattern to locate the holes on the passenger side.

Don’t mind the the chrome quality, 54 years old. Here’s the passenger side chrome Tuxedo Park windshield hinge with the optional side mirror provision. I may try to find the bracket so I can put a passenger side mirror back on, but I do like it with just the drivers side only.

I was able to find a replacement passenger side chrome hinge! This one does not have the optional tapped holes for a side mirror like my other, but I sure like this look, and no more peeled missing chrome! :)

It’s now officially the shiniest Tux chrome piece on the whole Jeep, lol!
