I have a Grizzly fiberglass top in very good shape. I painted it this summer and took my door weatherstripping off to paint the doors (also Fiberglass) . If you have not seen these, it looks a lot like an Acme top - I think Sears handled them at the time. One of the doors does not fit that well - maybe warped a little while I had it off, or my new windshield frame is worth less than I paid. I put Wal-mart storm door-type weatherstripping on them and it does not fill the crack everywhere. I had the foam-type weatherstripping that is about 3/4 inch before - it was not that durable, but sealed better, and the doors fit better then. Anyone know of an aftermarket-type seal that would fill a 3/4 to one inch crack and be durable rubber? The wind is cold and whistles.

I found a heavy rubber weather strip at a local truck stop - sold by the foot. I don't remember what it cost but much better than foam.

Can you post up some pics of this top please?

Some folks make a door jam extension that secures to the inside of the windshield frame, in order to help close up that gap...

I have the windshield frame extensions - one homemade, one factory. I think the windshield frame is pulling the top on the passenger side. I will try pictures, probably be next week before I can.

Here are pics of the Grizzly top. I have not posted pictures before, I hope they are still there. I bought the Jeep in the late 80's with this top (almost new then ) on it. It was white then. The previous owner's son had crashed it pretty bad and they painted it, built the motor, and put on the new top then. The ex-wife of the owner was threatening to burn it if he did not sell it as she feared the teenager would wreck it again.

Thanks for the pics, but do you happen to have any bigger ones?

The Jeep looks good, as does the hardtop!

Cool story on how you go it too!

What year is your Jeep, and did you order the seals yet or get the door to fit better?

I have an Acme top, and I'm having trouble getting my passenger door to fit properly too. It seems the top is slightly twisted. I also need to order all new rubber seal's.

X2 on thanks for sharing this link.

    Lot's of good stuff!!!

I have not bought seals yet - I was going to look at the local truck stop as someone suggested. The d-type seals from Austin Hardware were $3.50 to $7.50 a foot depending on thickness and I thought I might find something cheaper. As for the pictures, the album site shrunk them to that size. If there is a way to link them bigger, I will. I think the door is warped from the way I stored them last summer in my hot shop.Maybe I need to store them with a rock on them next summer.

I failed to answer your other question - it is a '73 model, 304 V8, pretty much stock except for wheels, tires, fender flares, dual exhaust and moving the spare to the back. Manual steering and brakes. It came from the factory yellow, or at least there was one layer of yellow under the white when I repainted it.

Appreciate the link...they look like they might be the ticket too.

I am gonna give him a call.

Here is info in case the ebay link expires and somebody might want to contact them, "Email us at parts@Teamwrangler.com or call us at 262-658-2268 with questions."

Please keep us updated with progress as you get the seals!

Also, you can always upload your pictures to photobucket.com (its free) then post them wherever/however you want, i.e. linked or embedded.

    Definetly a good looking Jeep!

    Thanks

After going back to the link, and enlarging the picture, I see that the seal has those bullet clips coming out of it. They are meant to push into holes in the door.

I, myself, would probably pull those off, and glue the seal to the door. I don't like to drill holes, where they're not absolutely necessary. I'd rather deal with removing the glue, if that situation ever arises.

Also, if the seals are designed to fit CJ 5's AND 7's, they'd probably have to be cut, and hand fit, to fit the door cutout shape of the tub.

I still may use these, myself, when I'm ready to install my hardtop (someday, after it's refurbished).

I wonder if these are for factory Jeep steel doors and would be a different size/shape than those for an aftermarket 'glass top?
