I got a hard top that I have yet to find any ID of from a guy who said his 69 cj5 was said to have a Denver package which allowed the carb to be adjusted for high altitude and had a hard top made of aluminum. He also said it had some sort of negative charge on the body to keep snow from sticking to it?

    Any of this sound right?

Sounds like marketing jargon to me never heard of a negative charge keeping snow off.

That was probably the "Force Field" option, available on the Star Trek Edition. They had a problem with the Di-Lithium Crystals disintegrating.

I've lived in Colo almost my whole life. Grew up with Jeeps. Many of our friends and neighbors had Jeeps. My dad owned a garage back in the 70's ,and we worked on lots of Jeeps. I have never heard of the "Denver option".
Not to say it didn't exist...I'm always learning something new about Jeeps. But I'm very skeptical....

It is true, IIRC, that the Carter YF carb (f-head) had different metering rods that could be adopted for high altitude.

I'd bet that someone did make an adjustment such as jet size and called it the Denver package.

the new ford trucks have an aluminum body. and I bet they have snow stuck to them. I think maybe he was having fun with you.
not sure what the hard top and "Denver package" carburetor have in connection, so I assume it is two separate questions.

Aluminum hardtop - makes it easier climbing those mountains with a high-altitude power loss? :D

I think with an aluminium top bolted to a steel body you end up with a negative charge on one side or the other from the galvanic corrosion.

ok. it didnt make any sense to me either. never heard of a negative charge in a body before. the guy swore they drove it out to colorado several times and snow never stuck to it. my immediate thought was a good heater may take care of most of that...

Either way, i got a killer deal on what appears to be a meyers hardtop. the only thing that is throwing me off is the doors. they are flat without the horizontal ribs i always see on meyers tops when i google them. will be cleaning her up and shooting a coat of paint on it to use this winter.

Ive been looking for an aluminum hard top for my cj5... seems all the cj5 tops were steel, and i don't want fiberglass. Would you mind posting some photos of it for me? Thank you.
