    I am restoring my 1972 Jeep CJ5.

There are 12ish spots to fasten the dashboard to the body. I had an even mix of painted hex bolts, painted and chrome allan key machined screws and a couple of Robertson wood screws.

I am confident that the Robertsons were not from the factory. Any input on what did come from the factory? Also were the fasteners painted the same colour as the dash, which I believe in '72 was the vehicle colour, or was stainless/chrome fasteners an option (possibly on the Renegade package).

The years I'm familiar with, hex-head cap screws with a captured washer. Not painted. They had a bright white plating, maybe zinc or cadmium.

I would assume they painted the dashes separately. I can imagine they would install the dash after all the wiring, instruments and switches were installed.
