What type of hardware was used to attach the dash board to the cowl? I'm not sure if it should be machine screws or the hex bolts with indented heads. This is for a 1967 CJ5. Thanks!

Thanks. Were they the style with the ridge around the top of the head? Does anyone make that style new? Not sure if I can scrounge enough of them

Below is a new 1/4-20 indented hex head stainless bolt on the left, next to a cleaned-up original dash bolt on the right. The originals had integral lockwashers, which may not be readily available now.

The stainless bolts shown can be purchased here: 1/4-20 x 1/2 Stainless Indented Head Hex Bolts.

Also, here’s a source for the zinc plated variety (though the originals were only 1/2” long): 1/4"-20 x 1" (Fully Threaded) Machine Screws Indented Hex Head Unslotted Coarse Zinc Cr+3 (100/Pkg.)

I used all stainless bolts in my interior from a Marine Store here in town. Just 304 Stainless but they always come off when you need to take it apart, you need to use Anticize or oil them, they will Gaul and freeze up. Good Luck.
