according to my Jeep books....no...but they don't say why
I am going to guess and say different diameters, wheel bearing differences

Wonder if it will bolt on, but you need all the other stuff with it (rotors, caliper brkts, calipers, etc.) to make it work right?
Are you looking at a disc conversion?

I know that the disc and drum knuckles are different. The disc knuckles have a relief cut into them so the caliper doesn't hit. The spindle should bolt right on though.

Yep the spindle should bolt on. But, I think the spindles are not interchangeable between braking systems. That is, the drum spindle can't be used with the disc set up, and vice versa.

They will physically bolt on but the od of the spindle where the inner bearing sits is larger and the seal surface has a larger od. They are the same length. Dana 44 Spindles will bolt on also but are way different so they won't work without changing everything else too. They use a different sealing method for the inner spindle bearings where the axle passes through the spindle than a drum brake spindle also. Nickmil.

I don't think you have to change the spindles to convert to disks. I'm getting ready to convert a '73 D30 to disks. Try doing a search here for someone who has already done one. Here's the parts list I'm using. I haven't completed this yet, so I can't vouch for any of this, but I've gotten this list from several different sources who all claim it works. Calipers from '71 - 78 Chevy 1/2 ton, caliper brackets from '73 - 91 Chevy 1/2 ton, rotors from '78 CJ 1 1/8" thick, longer wheel studs Dornan #610-106. In the application i saw that had pictures, the rotors were mounted to the back side of the hubs ie; the wheel studs went through the rotors and then through the hub. I'll post results when I get done. Won't be till after the holidays.

Posimoto, I will be interested in your write up. I have a 75 d30
I would like to do the same upgrade to,and I need a parts list as well.
I have heard of different parts, but don't know if they will truly all work
    on my application.

Right now I'm waitin on other parts. The 5.38 R&P is backordered until late January and I don't expect to see the Powerlok until after New Years. My best guess is I'll be into the brakes around March.

I personally find that swapping everything from the knuckles out from a disc D30 makes the most sense. You can usually get an '80s D30 with poor gearing for $50 or less, and anthing from the 70's usually needs a good excuse to have the ball joints replaced anyway.

Thats exactly what i did. I like using parts that are designed to work together from the factory, rather than mix matching parts.

I converted my 73 D30 with parts from a 79 disk D30. I used the shafts, knuckles, spindles, hubs,.......pretty much everything except the housing and gears ;)

Find me 5 or more guys looking for D30s, and I can afford a Cali vacation! (And still sell the D30s $100 under Market Value)

May bring some WT D44s, offset 1 piece D44s, and a couple XJ D44s to have a little "walking around money" ;)
