I want to crank the motor to test compression. i do not even have an oil filter assembly with the Lhead. The ports for it had been blocked off already. Will i damage anything if i crank it the engine with no oil filter? Wil the oil still get to the places it needs too?

Should be fine being a bypass system for a little bit but i would think you would want the line to still go to the timing gears or whatever the bypass filter feed for the long term. I forget where the restriction is to keep the overall pressure up.

There is a jet that oils the timing gears. You can run these engines without the oil filter.
