For those of yall who don't run a heater system, what are yall doing for the cowl vent? I was thinking about just putting a a piece of sheet steel and sealing it with RTV, then putting the vent on top of that.

The Jeep Guy makes a cowling cover that seal off the cowl vent for $10 + shipping. However, making one would not be that hard.

I had the same question...after spending time glassing up the cowl vent a rebuilding the little door. Decided I don't need it in Florida. In a drafty jeep. With no doors.

Interesting! After going to the Heatercraft heater in my '74 CJ-6, I was simply going to re-install the cowl portion of the stock heater so I could get some fresh air if needed. This alternative may be the way to go....

From what I gather an early venting windshield is mostly to keep dust from blowing from behind and sticking to the dash and back of the windshield. While the primary purpose of the Intermediate cowl vent is to provide intake air for the heater, does it also have enough flow to reduce buffeting and such when driving at higher speeds?

If anyone has a link to this it would be really special. I looked and could not find it. I'd like to see the design of it.

My experience has been just the opposite. I live about 8 blocks from him, have known him since high school, and won't sell to or buy from him.
I had to reposess parts from him, and found them laying in the gravel and rain in his driveway. He could have easily dropped them by my house and didn't.

Edit: he was also banned from this site many, many years ago because of shenannigans.

Wow. Maybe he's recently changed? I've ordered probably a dozen things from him over the course of the last 2 years. I email and he emails me right back within a few hours or less to give me the inventory status and shipping costs. He ships for me quickly and I get my stuff from him via Priority mail. The stuff gets from Oregon to Tennessee in 2 days. I have no complaints thus far.

In all fairness I will say his customer service has improved after word got around. However his attitude about business "philosophy" has not. If you talk to him it's like talking to a used car salesman. He worked for friends of mine, I actually recommended him for the job. He learned what he could then started selling the same products and undercutting the prices of his former employers. When I asked him about it he just said "that's business". No remorse he was screwing over someone who helped him out when he needed a job. For years he ran without business insurance. I'm sure he has it now.
Not telling anyone who to deal with but a little information goes a long way.
