Anybody know if you can backdate wheels succesfully? I have a line on some CJ2A wheels that I'd like to fit on my CJ5 if they'll work.

I've used used 2A wheels on later 5's and vise versa. But nothing later than mid 60's. Don't think they will fit with 10" brakes pretty sure they won't with 11". Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I had 16" wheels and 11" brakes on my '62. All four corners.

The 15" wheels won't fit with the 11" brakes IIRC.

Ah so Grasshopper. Never thunk that the change to 16" would allow more better brakes as an option too.
    Thanks fellers!

Maybe in the width/offset? I/we know the 16" CJ rims were 4.5", and truck rims were 5" so maybe it's the same with the 15" rims? Or maybe the outside surface of the newer 11" drums?

Yeah, the Intermediates all did but they weren't the same style wheel as the Willys/Kaiser were they?

no, they look like regular wheels think they're 15 x 5.5 or 6. I have some from about same era Bronco and have to look twice to see the difference.

I looked at my 16"with the 11" brakes and there is no way the 11" would work with 15"

Yup,The CJ5 has 11" brakes on it f&r put them on way back ran it with 15's maybe ten years both 8 and 10 inch rims 3 1/2 backspace. Has 16 x 8 w/3" backspace on it now and is down for a rebuild and sheet metal repair and I remember putting the roller wheel and tire on them so I could work on it(to get it down 3+ lift) dont remember rubbing or any thing with those either. Thats my experience and .02. :v6:

I personally tried three FC 150 15x6 rims last Sat and they had clearance for the 11 drums as the FC's came w/ 11" brakes. They also don't have the ugly small hubcap bumps on them. The stock early 15" CJ rims were 5.5" wide.

I think I read somewhere (possibly the 3B page) that the early 15" Jeep wheels would not fit over 11" brakes. But the later ones with the "ugly hubcap bumps" would. I've got a pair of KH 15x8 wheels and I could swear they will clear 11".
