Here's the setup...EZ Wiring 21 circuit, MSD 6A, Duraspark TFI, wiring novice.

I made the attached schematic from various sources online...to make sure I'm doing this correctly I would like some experts to check it out given the above setup.

    I also have some questions.

    1. Do I still need the ballast resister in this setup. (thought they were for "points" only)
    2. The EZ instructions call for a fusible link only for the main power supply to the fuses...not for the "bypass" or the "Alternator Power"...should I put one at those locations anyway.

I checked out your schematic and have a few comments and questions. I'm not familiar with the EZ box and assume it's just a terminal strip and fuse holder so my comments may be BS if it's not.

Question 1 - I don't think you need the ballast resistor, the MSD should control power to the coil and keep it happy.
Question 2 - Don't know, is that a wire added by the EZ kit? If that's the charging wire it may have a fusable link in it from the factory. It couldn't hurt to install one if one wasn't there.

1 - It looks like a good schematic to start with. - Gold Star for you.
2 - I'd show the ignition switch for clarity. You show the "S" start wire to the fuse box. Is that just a tie point or does EZ actually fuse that wire.
3 - You can use a fuse wherever a fusable link is called for, they're both fuses. I don't like fusable links they don't always work well and they burn sometimes. That said I'd use a fuse device placed close to the source for almost everything especially high current things.
4 - The wires to the EZ box and the Accy box will always be hot. Wouldn't you want the Accy box to be powered only when the key was on?
5 - MSD small red should go to ignition switch you show it going to the EZ box.
6 - Just for my info how are the relay's mounted, are they part of the Accy box. I like relay's but they require a lot of wiring if you're not using a terminal block.

Good luck getting everything wired up. It's a lot of work and a bit intense because you don't want to burn up all your hard work. When in doubt fuse it :)

Pete, thanks for the comments. Like you said, I really don't want to burn my rig down before I even have a chance to drive it!

The EZ Wiring harness (http://www.ezwiring.com/wiring_harness.html) is a regular automotive type harness so all the circuits are protected by a fuse.

I'm really new at this so let me know if I'm way off on this.

Since it's a regular auto harness the start wire goes through the box and to the ignition key switch. I think I'm okay there.

I was thinking about replacing the fusible link that came with the wiring harness kit with a "maxi" fuse or some other, but for now I think I'll stick with the fusible link. It shouldn't be hard to change it out later as necessary. As an aside...I thought fusible links were supposed to burn when overloaded, that's why they protect the circuit. (obviously more difficult to replace than a fuse or resetting a circuit breaker)

I know the accessory box will always be hot but I don't think that will be a problem. The hot wires will be passed through the fuses to the relays whose switched power is provided by the EZ harness where I will wire the various toggle switches, etc. So I don't think power passes through the relays until I throw the switch in the cab...or start it.

Since the MSD red power wire called for a switched source I chose the coil power wire out of the harness since it is switched and the MSD has it's own wire to the coil (supposed to be the only one)

Not sure how I will mount the relays yet, but from what I've read, the accessories that I'm powering will behave much better through relays than not. In fact, I'm pretty sure the radiator fan will have to be through the relay at the very least. Take a look at the fuse block that I'm using, you can look up the part number, it's in the diagram. I think it'll work.

Thanks for the comments and questions. Please let me know if I'm all wet with what I said.
