Thanks! Tintable Raptor Liner with Desert tan urethane for color. "Almost" bulletproof. I did chip the front fender with a poorly aimed hammer while replacing a front ball joint, but it's tough.

Put about 500 miles on it last weekend. Still chasing a high speed miss, but thanks to some folks on here, I think I'm getting it narrowed down to 2 possibilities. My current distributor with the pertronix setup has mechanical weights, and the pins the weights ride on are worn probably 30% through. I think that could be effecting the timing advance, and causing the high speed miss. However, further discussion and reading also leads me towards a bad float adjustment in the carb. This is a "new" rebuilt carb from a big name carb rebuilder, and supposedly was set up for my engine and run on one before they shipped it to me. When I wrap up the engine it begins a babababa instead of whaaaaah. Best way I can describe it. I'm going to check my fuel filters first, then adjust the float, and then install the all new everything HEI distributor setting here on my bench. I'll drive between changes and see what fixes it.

Looks great! I like the width that the fullsize axles leave you with combined with the deep offset of the Humvee rims.

We are very happy with it. I will say that I have been looking at the aluminum hummer rims for an H1, just to dress it up a bit. Only thing I've noticed is that they are all 17". Not sure I want to go to 17" rims, but I haven't checked into tire availability yet...

It drives Great! HEI distributor coming soon. I guess we are never really "finished".

Tons of 17" tire options out there... Not cheap, but lots of options.

Installed the new HEI system. Yeah, its better. Should have gone this route to begin with. It was easier and took less time than expected as well. Jeep now pulls hard all the way up to the RPM's where it shouldn't be to begin with! I really like the extra room it allows to get to the hold down bolt as well.

I just registered for the Midwest Fall Willys Reunion in Jefferson City, MO on the 18th, 19th, and 20th of September. I'm taking the jeep to show and a half a trailer load of misc jeep parts I've accumulated over the years to sell. Several jeeps there each year are ones I have owned, and its always neat to go back and check them out and see what the new owners have done. First time I've ever taken anything. Hope to see you there.

We were sailing along...a moonlight beach...when all of a sudden, for no apparent reason, we started popping a crackin and missin...what the heck. The first thing I heard sounded mechanical, like it was under the floorboard. Stopped, pulled over and opened the hood. The noise was not tracking with the rpms. I revved it a little, and it was not a clanking or metal on metal sound. Temp is fine. Oil pressure normal. I had a ticking lifter a week earlier and decided I had collapsed a lifter. Drove it 20 miles home. No power, popping-but only under acceleration. I stuck with my analysis, and when we got home, this is what I found.

Broken rocker arm. I went back in my build and found that this is the side I replaced due to a missing tip on one of my original rocker arms. Guess I didn't check the used one out very well; shame on me. It appears that this one may have some galling, but I didn't tear it down any further than this last night. Ive got the parts. Wonder if I have an oiling problem to that rocker????

Those Buick overheads have never been known for good oiling...........and when assembling one from the oil pump cavity on up though the oil gallies and into the block and heads and rockers and shaft alignment that subject should all be looked at quite closely...........yours obviously looks old and dry, like it had no oil at all for a while , not sure what the rest look like , but I would suggest you check them.......if oil had been present a collapsed lifter mostly caused by dirt or also lack of lubrication will destroy a rocker or bend a push rod...........

Did you know..... you can pull a pushrod out of the head... with the lifter sticking to it.... and the lifter can fall off in the valley.....

    I didn't know that.

    Now I do.

Guess my half hour fix just turned into pulling the intake as well.

Oil galley was blocked. I cleaned it out by hand with a gun drill.

We tackled it Wednesday around 5:30 and we were back in the house at 8:30. Pulled distributor, drained coolant, removed intake and picked it up high enough for my son to reach in and put the lifter back. Smeared a little permatex on the gaskets and torqued it back down. Installed the pushrods and rocker shafts, reinstalled the distributor and set the timing. Runs good, and definitely quieter. The oil galley to that end of the tube was blocked, and it wouldn't just push out with wire-had to use a gun drill and turn it slowly by hand to get through it. Oiling properly now. We left the carb, linkage, choke, wiring, etc all in place and kinda cheated on how quick we got this done. jeep is back on the road. By the way, that pushrod was taper worn to a point-not round on the end any more!

On a side note-installed a 52" LED light bar just below the windshield. Holy crap are those things bright, and for $100!!!

    Pics soon.

Per an earlier post, I wanted to report that both sides of my jeeps exhaust now sound the same. It was the galling resistance of the rocker arm that was probably giving it more "pop" on the passenger side... We are all good now.

Jeep. It's always something...My T-18 seems a little harder than what I would think was normal to shift. I checked the oil level and that was good. Googled it. Sounds like my new hydraulic clutch arrangement may be out of adjustment. Guess I will start with bleeding it. Not much else to adjust. I guess I can shim the mount out a bit if I have to.

The adjustable rod from the cylinder to the clutch fork was in fact set as short as possible. I adjusted it out and the tranny shifted easier, but I still noticed my release point was pretty close to the floorboard. A quick order to McMaster Carr brought me a 3/8-24 x 6" stainless steel althread. I made a new rod 1" longer than the old one. My clutch is awesome now-better than ever. Release point is in midway travel of pedal. In hindsight, I think the Novak adjustable length release bearing should have been half an inch or so longer, but I was afraid of setting it up too tight. I calculated the length vs installing and removing the tranny a couple of times to set it up. The T-18 and Dana 20 combo were just too dang cumbersome and heavy to do it over and over. When it is time for a clutch, I will reset a new release bearing, but for now, we are good to go again. A friend just got a 2 post lift, so the future of working under the jeep has gotten brighter.
