Powers up when jumped off truck, brake back loose from band, removed cable from drum. Needs a few tweaks to be able to install it. Plan on gluing brake lining back onto band and replacing several bearings. Anyone have any info other than the IHATMUD forum. Plan on bending up a mount for the cables, and replacing control cables that are MIA.

Looks a lot like my M 6000. You might try calling Warn so they can tell you that are no parts from them for it anymore. They gave me a number for a place in MN or somewhere in the area that has some older parts. Bearings should be available at a good bearing place. All you need now is the inside control parts.

When i had my old Bellvue i got the cable for the brake from NAPA. It was just an ordinary control cable.
I did not use a cable for the power function. I wired up a relay to a switch in the dash and i found a control for another winch and modified it to be used with it. It just was easier for me, but if you wanted to use the original switch, just get a second of the NAPA control cables.

I just mentioned it as I have the whole system for the M6000 on my Commando. The controls for them seem to disappear over the years and I really don't like to be standing that close to the winch cable using the controls under the hood. I'm sure you know, three cables to the dash, Brake, clutch and power.

The place in Minnesota seems to be gone. There are very few parts out there. Herm has made a few of the pieces that break the most.

Internal parts are good, replacing bearings that are worn. Gonna bend up a stainless dash plate and add labels. May use a momentary push button switch for on/off. Cleaned up and dismantled power switch contacts are fine. Napa and Oriellys have locking control cable cables avail. found a nice piece of 8" square tubing 1/4 wall to fab up a mount to weld to channel bumper that I have. Looking for a vintage roller fairlead to use. cable is cheap now that people are upgrading to synthetic rope.

The cable control bracket looks like this..............and get rid of that old knife switch and get two High amp relays one for the power to switch on/off with a key at the control panel and the other one that can be used with a push button and momentary switch for power in on the winch drum ..............I also had a momentary switch in the grill wired as a two-way circuit which allowed its use for power in at either location...............

That's a good old winch. Bought this one new in about 1973 +/- saved many butts over the years.

Could you post pics of the solenoids and i like the idea of a key on/off switch to control the solenoid.

I have some left over bronze bushings for the main shaft. Replaced the nylon with oilite bronze. Send me your address and I'll send you a couple.

If you cut out two front mount plates from that 8" tubing I'd be interested in knowing your price for one. I dont have tube or plasma cutter. I can handle making the bolt holes

I have several of these winches, the original power switches are usually missing or bad, I'd replace with an Albright controlled with a push button or covered toggle. Occasionally motors for 5687s' are advertised on eBay, they are an oddball that has an over speed brake on the outboard end of the motor, don't lose those parts. The band brake is marginal, especially when wet, I plan to adapt a go kart/mini bike/snowmachine hydraulic disk brake on the one I use in my CJ6. Probably use a hand brake lever operating a master cylinder. HTOG does have some parts, as mentioned. A good automotive starter repair shop can rebuild your motor if it is not totally smoked. Good luck!
