I'm doing a bunch of work on my Jeep. I've now discovered that almost all the body bolts are loose and the mounts are shot and missing in a few places. So I ordered a set of 1/4" square rubber mounts. Upon comparison, they're about an 1/8" thinner than (what's left of) the originals. The question is should they be 3/8" or 1/4" thick?

Also the body bolts measure .380" thick which is significantly thinner than the size of the hole in the mounts, the holes in both the floor and frame mounts. I was thinking of stepping those up to 1/2" to keep them from moving around as much and allowing a bigger washer on the floor, which like most are wallowed out.

    I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

I replaced mine a few months ago. All I did was cut a semi mud flap up. I then just replaced bolts and hardware which I picked up at Ace.

i think the original mounts were just thin strips of rubber. you want the bolts a little smaller than the body mount holes so there is enough play so you can adjust the body to frame alignment.

Originally, there was a piece of rubber, some of which were nothing more than cut up tire material, which was used for the bushing. Not sure if they were 1/4 or 3/8. My gut wants to say 3/8. And I'd go thicker rather than thinner anyway. None of this will matter if the steel on the tub at the mounting area is shot, or the mounts on the frame. These areas need to be in good shape first.

As far as the bolts go, I'd go just a tad smaller than the hole. I wanna say 7/16.

When I did mine bolts were 3 different sizes I want to say 1/2 in front 3/8 in middle 7/16 in rear.

I measured the original rubber mounts were .480" thick. I'm going to upgrade to 1/2" bolts which are just a little smaller than the opening in the lower mounts. Thanks for the feedback.
