I always find your build posts interesting and helpful. This engine build is a fine example of that and thanks for taking us along thorough the build. Once you have the engine off the stand, could you post a picture of the stand. It appears to be a design of your own. How is the engine attached to the stand? In the last two photos, it appears to be something other than the typical bolt to bellhousing mounting surface.

More so a consolidation of years of Ideas........My Racing friend owns a sheet metal shop.........these are made by breaking sheet metal for the body and legs and then welding them together.........the head is a Cast Iron investment casting , and the adjustable arms are billet 6061-T6 Aluminum.........the build Idea grew out of many years of frustrations dealing with cheap home made versions that fell apart.............this is really one of the early versions that was zinc plated while the others he sells now have more colors and options.............and are a little pricey $$$$$$$$$$$$$

    I am the lucky one!
I had The oil pick up tube break and starved my motor for oil, and ruined it.
I'll be updating my build as I change the motor out.

To think. all these years We used a tree limb and a winch to pull a motor. More fun if you use the electric winch on the that's on the vehicle to do the job.
We are a bit set up better than that in reality but I like the drift punch used on the stand.

Tarry, Thanks for posting. The head on that stand is interesting and gives me some ideas. My neighbor, an old time drag racer, has asked me to rebuild the head on a heavy duty engine stand that he has. It will need to be well built as his next project is a 392 cu. in. Chrysler Hemi. Don't know what his plan is yet for the engine but it should be interesting. He is reliving his younger years and was competitive in the day. Actually he was very competitive. One of the teams he competed against and had the good fortune to beat was recently featured in Hot Rod Magazine - The Thrifty Car out of Spokane, WA. This being the team that pioneered nitro as a fuel.

That stand will hold just about anything , I've had my Pro Stock motors ready to run sitting on it..........Good luck in finding parts for the early Chrysler if your sticking with the old cast Iron block & heads..........most folks running the Nostalgia stuff are using Donavan's or KB's with aluminum heads.

He has a ton of parts so that shouldn't be a problem.

Speaking of stands, my home built from back in 2004 was built out of scrap from the dumpster at work. Looked good on paper till it was all fabbed and welded. Hold anything is an understatement. Mine had a 6 cylinder Allis Chalmer diesel hang on it for 2 months and a 6bt Cummins for longer than that. When it was done my dauntless motor looked like a 2 cylinder Briggs hanging on it.
Over engineering can sometimes get carried away.:)

This thread is a great help, as I am going into my 225. After reading this I am empowered to do the build myself, something I would have not started without this information. I do have a question regarding the rocker arm assembly. How do you inspect this component, and what are the appropriate repairs.

Take pictures first and mark the rockers which will aid you during the re-assembling process later.....................The rocker arm shafts will wear out if oiling to the overhead is restricted as well as the rocker arm bores and the hardened tips on the rocker arms are all subject to wear...........take a look as well as getting a micrometer out and measure away...........parts are available from T.A. Performance or other outlets.

Yep, will get measuring. Any amount of wear acceptable on the shaft? Where the rockers ride the shaft is shiny. But can't feel any real wear. Will let you know what the measurements are.

A little update today from Rob on the oil pump , pan and pickup tube improvements............"If you have the time I recommend doing the upgrades to the oil pan and oil pickup tube that Terry99 did in his engine build, (baffles, re-enforcing the pickup tube). As the recipient of this motor, I can tell you that even on hills and off camber sections it idols at 22-25PSI. 40-45PSI at 55-60mph." Good News! Thanks Rob.

Thanks for the update! Tarry, this build was really impressive and informative. While I can't ever hope to have your fab skills, I will strive to follow your guidance when I rebuild my own 225. Thanks again!
