Does anyone know and/or have pics of the actual dealer cable routing of the belleview control cables in the engine bay? After passing through the firewall grommet 3-holes, how does it route down the fender under radiator/grill to the winch? Restoring period and factory correct jeep. Need actual routing and how they connected it to sheet metal, not just 'tape it to the support rod'. Also, to confirm the knife switch mounts somewhere on the fender near the horn. Any pics of the switch mount also would be good. Pics would be greatly appreciated of your dealer/factory cable routes. Any help greatly appreciated.

I think you are right... I've searched and searched. Can't even find a Pic of someone who installed the cables. Thanks for that link. I had the doc link from another source and couldn't read it at all. May not be same routing of course jeep vrs. land cruiser. but the rest of the info is really good.

I am not sure you will find what your looking for, you might need to route it as best as you can and nobody will have any pics to compare it too, except your installation of course. I can understand you want to match for a concourse installation, but the jeep police will not be able to fault you if your the only install they have ever seen. I installed mine on a 3B so it will not help.

Agree... I do get caught up in the details sometimes on this restoration. Figure I'll only do one frame off restoration in my lifetime. May as well go all in! I'll post up pictures after I finish the install so others have some idea of how things can be done. The plan...going with nylon cable clamps. Routing three cables across the driver fender, dropping two cables down the inside grill to the frame, brining those two cables out under the grill to the Winch. The third cable (Switch), I'm going to bring into the grill, behind the radiator and cross over on top. Come back out of the grill and to the passenger fender. Where I'll mount the knife switch on the passenger fender. This is different from where the knife switch was mounted before. When I got the jeep the switch was on the Driver side near horn. But they had all the Battery cables routed to that side. I think it best not to have it on the other side of the battery like that, so will reroute to correct. For those not frequent to the Intermediate page...check out the '74 Renegade rebuild! 98% done.

My 5721 installation instructions show all three cables generally routed along the left fender with the chopper switch cable passing behind the grill to behind the battery on the right fender where the chopper switch is mounted. No specific locations given. The Belleview instructions show the same clutch/brake cable location but the solenoid wiring routed across the firewall and then forward to near the battery where the solenoid is mounted. This is the 134 fender battery location.

Anyone have a good source for a step by step rebuild article for the 5687? I only find the 8274. Need to figure out how the cable drum comes off and pull the motor case apart from the guts. And maybe a light rebuild on it all. If easy I want to remove and paint both. If not I'll just mask things off and paint in place. Routed the cables. Decided to mount switch outside so all three cables running down to the winch under the grill. Figured if you are operating the wince at the front of jeep, why have to open the hood to get to the switch. I'll fab up a nice mount on the winch mount. I kept cables routing very clean and secured to the fender.

Rebuild instructions here, print it off and keep it

Warn 5687 Information - Land Cruiser Tech from IH8MUD.com

basically the winch motor is removed by removing upper fill plug, and two bolts from drum brake cover. using a brass punch tap the armature splines out of the winch case through the oil fill hole. the bearing for the winch comes out too. do not power up winch motor without being reinstalled in winch, you can damage the armature and windings, bearing is indexed by the case.
