I’m looking at the BDS leaf spring kit which includes shocks and has approximately 2.5 inches of lift for my 63 CJ5. I’m just researching for now, but my question is how does this affect the steering linkage and tie rods. Do you have to do any modification or re aligning the front end or is the 2.5 inch not that much of a change so everything remains the same. I also am wondering if you can use the stock shackles on the jeep to hang the Springs. I’m a long way off from this decision, but just trying to get some sound info from the most knowledgeable people.

The BDS kits I have installed have been some of the best. Never have I had to use anything other than stock shackles. As far as front end geometry I have only had to re-center the steering wheel.

X2 on the bds with the twin tie rods you may have to adjust toe a touch.

I bought the complete BDS suspension kit (with shocks) and it's a great upgrade. Very well built, lifetime warranty. My '66 is all stock, just had to get the alignment done.
2.5" lift is small enough that it doesn't affect your drive shaft angles, and still keeps the Jeep looking stock. A bit pricey compared to other kits, but ride and quality are awesome.

I’m going on five years or so they limbered up nicely. They also settle some in the end it’s about a stock height.

I agree, nicest springs I've bought. Ride well, flex well, warranty second to none. I would buy another.

Nice to hear the great reviews on the Springs. If everything works out and I have the extra dollars I will get them.
