I am now trying to install wipers on my 59 cj5 and I am trying to find out some details for the length of the blade, and the length of the arm on both sides. What I have is a 2 piece split ventilating windshield that has a working Trico SF-634-1 vacuum wiper with a NOS trico arm that I bought on ebay, and it should have a manual crank wiper on the passenger side but its missing so I am trying to locate one.

Can anyone that has the same ventilating windshield that has one vacuum wiper and one manual crank wiper help me out with these lengths? I've tried both of my parts books one shows part numbers but doesn't say lengths and im having troubles locating those parts online for sale.

    Nice looking windshield.

Sorry but mine had vacuum wipers on both sides. Both were identical.

Not sure of the problem... wouldn't a tape measure would give you the answers you want?

Not sure if this helps but early Ford (Model "T," Model "A," etc) suppliers such as Mac's or Laing's sell generic manual wiper kits.

I thought a tape measure would work too but it doesn't seem as though the arm should stop in the center of the windshield glass for optimum performance. The tape measure could help me figure out which size blade I could use for driver side vacuum with the NOS trico arm I bought, but I don't know if that's even the correct length arm or not. so I could figure out how to use it as is with this arm but it may not be optimum. The m38a1 normal split glass windshields I have, the arms hang lower than center of the glass. so I guess I could probably do some math to figure out the ratio based on different glass sizes. So for example if the m38a1 glass is 12 inches tall and the arm ends at 8 inches from the top of the glass, I could turn that into a percentage and make it the same percentage difference for a shorter window glass say 11.25 inch tall ventilating glass. ( and no these measurements are not correct im just throwing them out as examples.)

Im just trying to see if someone with this same setup as me, can tell me their current working hopefully, correct lengths. My biggest concern is the passenger hand crank length. One thing I could probably do is measure the size blade I would need to make my current nos arm work. and buy a reproduction CJ2A manual wiper and cut the arm and reweld it to the length I think it should be.

I don't have the same system, and I suppose that I must close the window if it rains to have them work.

I don't think the manual wiper will work on the venting windshield. I can't remember the details but I remember when I added the venting windshield to my Jeep I tried to add the manual wiper from the old windshield and it didnt work so I had to go with two vacuum wipers. The Jeep is currently hibernating for the winter in my inlaws garage so I can't measure the length of the wipers for you.

Here's some TRICO numbers from my files, if you can interpret them. Might be a place to start.
Sorry, I don't recall the original source and I can't personally verify their accuracy.

    #685780 (LH) arm (ventilating W/S), CJ-3B
    #687924 (RH) arm (ventilating W/S), CJ-3B
#671041 (8") blade CJ-3A,B (note: 9" Trico blades will fit)

    #689789 arm CJ-5,6
    #689795 arm (ventilating W/S), CJ-5,6
    #689790 blade CJ-5,6

In what way did the manual wiper not work for your vented windshield? My passenger side definitely has the holes for a manual wiper, and I tried to install a vacuum on the passenger side but no holes line up for the motor so new holes would have to be added to change it to vacuum.

Also I have two parts books, one that covers up to 59 (reprint), and one that covers up to 71 I think (also reprint) a vented windshield is not listed in my 59 book as coming with a manual crank, but my up to 71 book shows one that could have come with manual wipers and it does show different part numbers compared to the stationary windshield.

I have the same windshield and the wiper is 9" and the arm is about 7" on the drivers side. If you are trying to use a stock arm it won't work.... and the manual one, not sure... it just an arm, mounting point and a crank don't have the wiper part. Can send you a pic if you private message me.

I just double checked my part book and apparently I overlooked that the ventilating cj3b windshield, and ventilating cj5-6 windshields share the same manual wiper. so now I need to just find a manual wiper off a cj3b that has a ventilating windshield also.

I could be wrong but im thinking the cj3b with ventilating windshield is far more common than the cj5-6 ones.

Might be. No one really ordered venting CJ5 windshields. Hard for those tall guys to see out of. Most all of them went overseas.

Venting ws "shorty" arm & standard length for comparison-

I bought the venting arms off of Ebay, from a jeep parts supplier in Belgium, might not hurt to try a few of the suppliers in Europe.

I know i have the blades *someplace* but i can't lay my hands on them at the moment.

There is an adjustable arm I bought from Carquest that can be cut to length. Trico iirc. I bought them for a couple of my CJ's. I'll try and find the part numbers tomorrow.

Does any one have an image of the manual wiper? I would like to see how the wiper attaches to the arm.

I had a look at my supplier for old Jeep parts. You can send a mail to them with photos.
They have lot of stock for army Jeeps and Dodge, GMC, only militaria business.
France is the place where you, Americans, came with hundred of tons of Jeep to bring us freedom, thanks again.
SO some french people want to keep this souvenir alive, as you can see on jeepest website, you can buy the full uniform of WWII army soldier or officer.
But you can also get Jeep wipers...
These amateurs of Jeeps are to be seen on D DAy, June 6th every year, to commemorate this Great Day.
Remember that, without D Day, Nazis would have develop and use atomic bomb, .... brrr

Here are exemples of Jeep spare parts, maybe it can help you, I don't know exactly what you need.
I have a CJ5 vented windshield, but not the same model.
