I'm going to put a reinforcement bar on my home made shackles, and I'd like to know the measurement between a set of the manufactured shackles (like the MORE shackles).

Oh yeah, for the early CJs (mines a 71).

    TIA

    Uhh, I couldn't find it...

I know what the width of the spring is (I can measure mine), but I want to know how much space I should leave to allow proper range of motion, but not be too wide.

    Thanks,

    Jon

You don't want to leave any space, your Jeep will be all over the road. Install your lift shackles nice and snug as they should be, then measure the length for the brace.

I have Con-Ferr's and they measure about 1.87 between uprights right next to the cross brace. If your springs and shackles are still hooked up on your Jeep, it would be a good idea to measure what yours are currently. I have Con-Ferr shackles and Rancho springs. YMMV
