    AMC model 20. Out of a cj7 with the quadra trac transfer case. I have been wrong before...

    With the one piece axles it's not entirely an anchor. Close. Decent ring and pinion , tubes known to be a little thin. If someone else put the money into it and you got it cheap I wouldn't hesitate to use it if your not going to beat on it.

    AMC 20s have a bigger ring gear making them stronger than a Dana 44. With one piece shafts, they a very good axle.

    With an over-the-top style truss and one-piece shafts, they are near-bombproof.

    Not a 20, obviously, but trussed like this...
    Keeps the tubes in line.
