Just when i got my tire carrier done i think of something differnt. I plan on using a 34x10.50 swamper for a spare, if i buy a new tire i was thinknig 34x9.5. So the tire will be small. There are jeeps with roof racks but that adds alot to the hieght of a jeep. How bout intergrateing and sinking the spare tire in your roll cage? You will hve the middle and rear hoop and 2 side bars, in th ecenter of it all you could probably sink a tire in between the bars. with a real thin tire you could still have enoguh room for rear passengers but you wont make the hieght of the jeep that much larger. the tire will affect center of gravity but with a skinnier tire and possibly use an aluminum rim you could get away with minimal weight. other downsides is getting the tire in and out but nothing that bad, and if you had a flat you will have to put the damaged tire up on the rack/cage. probably has been done before but seems like a differnt kind of solution than making a heavy tire.carrier combo on the rear of the frame. I better stop smking this crack i have a urine test in the morning.
